The Koinonia Basketball League was developed as a component of the Ministry to fulfill objectives of the 5 Biblical purposes of the Church. As a structured outlet for participants to appropriately express their God-given talents with other like-minded individuals, basketball is used by the league as a tool to communicate the Gospel as means to overcoming issues that plague the body of Christ such as pride, fear, self-esteem, violence, etc. There are currently 13 Philadelphia area Churches that participate in either our youth or men’s league.

What helps to make this league different from many other Christian basketball leagues is that each participant of the Koinonia Basketball League has to be a good standing member of the Church that their team is representing. Scripture recitations, prayer, and team Bible studies are just some of the additional focus areas that make the Koinonia Basketball League an exciting place to play!
